Guys, Let me start with a sincere "Thank You" all the individuals that have contributed to this forum and many others with valuable content and experience.
I had my interview earlier today 1/8/2009 in Chicago office and things went very smooth to say the least.
Was requested to be at the 101 W congress office in Chicago dtown for interview schedule at 8:45 am on 1/8/09. I reached earlier then asked at 7:50 am, parked car adjacent to the building (paid $12 as early bird special). After entering the building and security, I checked in by showing the interview letter on the second level. There are bold signs everywhere and it’s hard to get lost. I was then asked to be seated in "Area 2" and stay tuned for my name to be called out. In less then 10 min, an officer called out my name. Officer escorted me to an office and asked me to raise my right hand and sworn in for telling truth. Then was asked for green card, passport, and interview letter and driver license. I furnished all of those promptly. I was then asked for my preference to select between old and new civic test. The officer mentioned that old test was more requested and not many have done well with the new ones...I requested for the old test. I was told, I will be asked 10 questions in total and once I get 6 rights, Q&A process will stop. I took my time in answering and got the first 6 right . Then was asked to write a simple sentence. Then was asked to read out a sentence. After this was done, I was told that I had passed the test and can relax..
Next was the review of the application form.. Asked me for my full name, place I worked, marital info. Since I had travelled out of country for 2 months between finger printing and interview, I provided the information back to the officer. I mentioned that it was business travel but also got some quality time to spend with my family. I was asked series of same question already in the application form.
I was then told that the application was approved. My application was stamped APPROVED and was told that the next oath ceremony date was 1/13. I was handed a letter that said that my application meets the naturalization requirements and was recommended for final approval. I asked to wait for 45 min in the waiting area to collect the letter for oath ceremony. I was then escorted out to the waiting area by the same officer. I thanked the officer and took my seat. In about 30 min, the lady at the check in window called out my name and requested for the approval letter that the officer had given me. She then verified the name and handed me the Oath ceremony letter which had date, time location.
This was my experience...please look at the tracker under my id – kshahusu with Chicago as field office filter for end to end timeline information...
Good luck to all of you and best wishes...
