  • N400 & Citation

    Hi Everyone,
I received couple of speeding tickets after I became permanent resident. When I filed N400, my attorney answered "No" for the arrest/conviction/jailed/cited question. She said that we only need to answer yes if the citation ended up in an arrest or jail. Is that true? Is there a way to correct it during the interview? How should I go about it? Please help, my interview is in couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance for your help.

In GA, the officers expect you to disclose traffic tickets because traffic tickets are misdemeanors under GA law. In other states, the tickets are not misdemeanors so they are not required to disclose tickets if you live in the other states. So Texas sent out a general letter because the question that you disclosed your tickets asks (whether you have arrested, cited etc) but does not differentiate between arrests and citations.

If you have already submitted your application (outside GA) just take the 5-7 yrs of driving record during the time of interview. Good Luck !!
