  • Question with the N-400 (Part 6) - filing based on 3 yr eligibility

My wife is filing her N-400 and she is basing her eligibility on being married to me (a US citizen) and a LPR for the last 3 years.

The question we have with the N-400 form is Part 6 - A) Where have you lived during the last five years? and B) Where have you worked during the last five years?

We are wondering since she is applying for her citizenship based on 3 year eligibility, does she need to put down the address and work information for the past 3 years, or does she really need to provide information for the last 5 years, even though only the last 3 years are relevant to her application?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Greetings.

Regarding Part 6, it does seem that entering your wife's information for the last 3 years is most likely what they are after for those applying under the 3 year rule (as with Part 7). HOWEVER, given Part 6 is considerably more straight-forward than Part 7, I would recommend erring on the side of caution and entering Part 6 based on the last 5 years, just in case. USCIS will understand that she is applying based on the 3 year rule.

In our case, we filled out Part 6 based on the last 5 years, even though my wife applied under the 3 year rule. It did not require much effort to list her address and employer for two additional years. For Part 7 however, we only filled this out for the last 3 years (as described in my previous thread: http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showth...806#post154806) given its a bit more complicated. We had no issues with either section being filled out as I've just described, and my wife is a proud US citizen now.

For what it's worth. Good luck!

Hello! Congrats to your wife and thank you very much for the response. I hope everything will go well with our application too.
