  • Double citizenship question

Today, at the immigration center, during fingerprinting process, I've been asked for my citizenship. I have a double citizenship: Romanian and Canadian. I elected to register under the Romanian citizenship. I hope I did not make a mistake. I am afraid that, at the Citizenship Interview, I will be asked for a Romanian passport. I have only a Canadian passport. I believe that, in the Canadian passport, my Romanian citizenship is stated also.

The question is: Do I have to show a Romanian passport to prove my Romanian citizenship at the time of the interview? I hope not.

Is there any way to have this question answered by an immigration officer?

I appreciate your answers or advice. Thank you!

At the time of you received your permanent residence your country of nationality would've been determined already. The officer will go by the country listed in your file unless you you say that it is wrong. At that time the officer would request proof of nationality you claim.
