While applying how we calculate 4 years and 9 months. issue date or resident since?

    PJ-
waitin_toolong is correct. Its since resident date. One thing i can add to that is make sure your wife doesn't apply even a day earlier as i have read that cases have been rejected for just a little miss calculation.

    Good luck!

Since the processing is moving very fast these days. What happens if the we get an interview date between 4 yrs & 9 months and before the 5 year is completed or would that not happen?

      Thanks for the response

Thats a very good question mavben.

The answer is it depends on the Immigration officer. He can choose to re-schedule you for another interview at a later date after you have reached your 5 yr resident requirement or he can simply decide to denial your application and then you are forced to re-file and pay another filling fee.

I would think the USCIS shouldn't schedule interviews before one is eligible and force us folks to waste time and other resources but it happens once in a while!!

        Best regards!

I would think that it does not matter because when USCIS accepted the application and sent out the NOA, they are OK with you becoming a citizen provided all the paperwork is met.
It's my opinion, I also applied 89 days before by 5 years and was hoping to take advantage of the processing speed these days.

            Thanks for the responses.

I got a little nervous seeing the whole application process taking around two month.. I think I might wait a couple of weeks just to be safe. Why risk loosing $675

The best situation I have seen in these forums is around 102 days, little more than 3 months. You are doing a smart thing and not losing 675$, but as I said before, if green card holder is eligible for applying 90 days before 5 years of GC(in our cases) , the processing time should not matter.

                    Hi evbdy

                    HI ALL

I am new to this forum. I found this forum is very helpfull.

I have a doubt. I am an Indian married to a US GC CARD holder shortly applying for citizenship.

We got married on 6th Jan 2007 in the church and the marriage was registered on 21st Jan 2007 with the govt.. In the marriage certificate our marrige date is the registration date(21/01/2007). we requested them to put the correct date but they refused to do so.

While applying for the citizenship which date to be mentioned as marriage date.

If we mention registration date as marriage date when my IR1 (I130) case comes I cant show any proof.

Instead if I mention our actual date I dont have a govt certificate to show but I have church certificate and marriage albums.

                    ANY BODY PLS REPLY

I think the church marriage certificate should be ok.

Anybody else please? I would like to know what others think on this one!!!

Congrats on your interview letter. Dallas office is moving fast!!

About the oath on the same day, i haven't done any research on Dallas office. As for my office which is San Antonio, they don't do same day oath. They have them once or twice a month.

I will let someone from the Dallas office to answer your oath question.

                                Hey Gang!
I am now studying the 100 questions for my interview in a month. So far, so Good. I have been reading the booklet and recently started listening to a audio version for practice hearing the questions over and over again as the test is a oral test.

My main objective is to just hear a question and the answer comes from my memory without thinking. LoL. After passing my interview, i might need to erase some from my memory. ha ha

Anyone else having fun studying for the test?

                                Best regards,
                                poisontee!
