Dear all,

Would highly appreciate answers to these questions:

Q1) How many days before completing exact 5 years, can a person apply for Citizenship??? Or it can only be applied after 5 yrs have actually over?

Q2) How long is it taking to get the Citizenship in Santa Clara County?? If one applies in Sept then when should one expect the fomalities to be over?

Q1: You may apply 3 months before the five year anniversary of receiving your GC. For example, if you received your GC today you can apply for citizenship on 3-24-2014.

Q2: I think most offices in the U.S. have reached the target of 5-6 month processing time. So if you apply in Sept. and are approved you should receive your certificate by March of next year.

As you suggested, that A person applying in Sept shall get Citizenship in March next year..

Q1) Out of 5-6 months of processing, how far from the Date of Application, does one expect the Interview Date?

Q2) Can Someone get married before Interview date comes??? Say in Nov or December? Are there any issues? Because he would not have mentioned about all this while applying?

Q3) Same question as Q2...Can someone get married after interview but before OATH ceremony?? Are there any issues??

Just like you I am also going to apply for n400 in September. Now the answers for

Q1...No body can say that exactly. These dates are depend on many factors like volume of applicants in your sevices center/how fast they process your applcation etc...

Only thing you can do is to attend the appointments and interview without fail. if you failed to attend an interview your chance to get citizenship fades.

Q2 and Q3. My suggestion is after you file n400 stay in US till the process is finished. if u are getting married in US I think its OK
