This is a really complicated situation, so any help would be appreciated.
I'm 17 years old and I was born in mexico city. My mom brought me and my older brother to the united states when I was 5 years old so I've been here for almost 12 years.
I'm obviously an illegal immigrant, and before I turn 18 (in october) I want to know what are my options to obtain residency/citizenship .
I've never work illegally here in the u.s , or gotten in trouble with the law, or traveled out of the country while I was living here.
Here's where it gets tricky: my mom is a "citizen" of the united states, she pays taxes and everything.
But in reality she wasn't born in the united states; when she was about 6, my grandmother came to the united states and registered my mom in a hospital claiming she was born there and from there my mom got her papers. (I guess it was easier in the 70s) but now, since my mom doesn't have enough proof that she really was born & lived in the u.s, she is being denied a passport, making it harder for her to fix me and my brothers papers.
I've been researching about what I can do but I haven't really found anything to help me and my very specific situation.
I've also been considering leaving the u.s and coming back with a student visa, but I'm not sure if that's even possible.
Again any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
