Finally received FP notice...damn is Arizona center so slow?, or is it slow for just my case
After a bit of drama, I received the interview letter like 4-5days ago & Interview was today at 8.15am at SFO office.
Here is the drama:- My Apt# is 17. USCIS had mailed my interview letter in 3rd week of October. But they had printed wrong Apartment number in my interview letter (they had printed apt317 instead of apt#17). So, it took hell lot of time for Post office to deliver my mail.

Anyway, here is the interview experience:-
I went to SFO office at 8am, Security check, then I was allowed inside the building. Submitted my Interview letter to receptionist, she asked me to wait there. After 10minutes, IO called my name.

    Interview:-
IO asked me to take interview oath, asked for my GC, Passport, Driver License. Then, went through every detail of my N-400 application.
    1) She asked me for all the addresses that I stayed in the past 5 years. I remember some thread asking for the previous addresses. I would suggest memorize everything you have mentioned in N-400 application form.

    2) She asked me about my current work place & Previous companies name.

    3) She asked me in detail about my 2 traffic tickets that I had mentioned in the N-400 form. I explained her in detail & showed her the proof of payments of the tickets. I also asked her if she wanted to see my DMV record, she said "sure"....I showed her my DMV record, she went over that in detail...line by line...damn....I said to myself "oh god, did I do a mistake of offering her my DMV record. Am I screwing my own case?, she might put my case on hold for further checkings etc....several weird thoughts went through my head". Meanwhile, she asked me couple of questions from the DMV record. I answered them to the best of my abilities. Don't know how much she was convinced.

    4) English test; she asked me to read a statement "Who lives in the white house?"

    5) Writing test; she asked me to write "The President lives in the white house."

    6) Civics test;
    a) Which group of people were sold as slaves in America?
    b) How many amendments are there?
    c) Who makes the laws?
    d) What is the highest court in US?
    e) Why did colonists fight British?
    f) Whats the name of Vice President?

Then she told me that she would take photocopies of my 2 traffic tickets payment proof & my DMV record. She went outside to take photocopies. At that time, I hit myself couple of times for offering her my DMV record....YES, I really did hit myself hard on my head couple of times.

She came back with in two minutes & said "You have passed the test, I recommend your case for citizenship. You will receive oath letter with in 2-3 weeks of time. I asked her if there are any oath dates in the near future, she said "Yes, one on 19th nov, But I do not know if there are any seats vacant. So, I cant tell your oath date, you will receive a letter about it". I said, "Thanks a lot Mam" & came out.

So, let see when will I receive Oath letter. I hope there is no other decision making on my case because of damn DMV traffic tickets.

Thanks a lot to Poisontee, helpwithh1 & all other Sr.members for your answers to my questions, advice & sharing your N-400 journey experience :-).

      Congrats Nags3_cvn2004!

I have one question. When they ask the civic questions, do they just go based on their memory? Or does a computer randomly generates them? or do they pick questions from a list?

      Thanks and Congrats again.

IO will have 10questions printed on a paper. I guess they are randomly generated by computer before even IO calls you inside for interview. When you answer each one of them, he/she will write down your answers on the same paper.

I would advice to go through the "history part" in detail, because I was bit negligent & read them only couple of times thinking that there wont be any questions on history (as I have not seen anybody posting in this forum about history questions). But I got 2 questions from that itself (quite unexpected).

I got my FP done in October 2nd week. My interview date was yesterday (i,e, 5yrs completion date).
INS usually schedules interview on or after the date of completion of 5years as GC holder (or 3yrs in the case of marriage sponsor). How ever, I have seen only one case mentioned in this forum that interview was held 5days before 5yrs completion.

IIRC, I never got a yellow letter. I just got a interview notice and a white paper with it. The paper has details of what to bring and asks for photo id, green card, passport(s) etc. It also recommends that you bring two pictures as well.

Others have taken marriage certs, kids birth certs, Income tax returns etc. to interviews.

                  Here is the interview experience:-

Showed up at Phoenix office 15 minutes before interview and waited over an hour to be called.

                  Interview:-
                  Took the oath.
Showed my GC and driver's license (passport wasn't asked).

Went over the N-400 and the officer put check marks next to the information that was already on there. I just had to confirm everything.

                  Did the read/write English test.

Answered the six questions and was told that I passed the test. It was very simple.

So experience was not much different than others. No passport, tax papers or W2 were asked for.

What was different that even though there was a name change there was no delay. The oath was scheduled for next available. Maybe Phoenix or Arizona are different that way.

                  Hope this helps someone.

Yes, when they tell you the date they ask you if that will work.

                          Goodluck.

Congrats , long journey of N-400 is almost getting over, kinda feels good...Isnt it?
Just make sure that in the interview result sheet that IO gave you, "Congrats, you have been recommended........" is checked.
Also, if the Oath is Dec 1st week, you will be receiving oath letter in 3-4 days.

I didn't receive my oath letter yet. Its been 10days already (SFO field office)

Any one who has applied with San Jose as thier field office. can they post thier time line

As I mentioned I got a yellow letter on Oct5th and till date no info on interview data.

I took an infopass appointment and met the immigration officer...They said that its a routine to send yellow letter and it does not mean anything...

I need to wait for 5 ~8 weeks more...

Strange when all are getting interview letter and some even had oath after officer said this is well with in the processing time and nothing to worry. (submitted application Aug 5th)

Any one in San Jose who has similar experience
