  • N-400 and Traffic Citations

I filed my N-400 in early July 2009. Got fingerprints done in late July 2009.
I did not mention any traffic citations on my N-400 forms - didn't know even if I needed to mention. I have one minor accident and one lane change violation in the past five years, but after I filed my N-400, I got a speeding ticket that will not count any points to my driving record. By not mentioning any traffic citations on my N-400, would it be a problem during the interview. Please advise.
    Thanks.

Im still new to N-400. May be seniors can help you better.
From my opinion, yes. You were suppose to mention any citations in N-400 form. So they might ask you all those questions in interview including the one which happened after filing N-400 (if its convicted already) & if the officer thinks, he can put ur citizenship on hold.

      N400 - Traffic citations

I see some people mentioned here about traffic citations to be mentioned or not in the N 400 application. I recently applied and had my finger prints on
19th feb, in the applciation I didn't see any item asking about traffic voilations/tickets. do you think the application is updated now. I applied in January first week.

      thanks,
      Suja

The IO might ask if anything has changed in your application from the time you had applied. So mention at that time saying that you got a ticket, and you paid the fines and the case is closed.

Does the officer ask us about traffic voilations and their proof of payments duiring the interview? I dont see anything related to it in N400 application.

            Ok guys,

I am going to answer to everybody about the problem of traffic fines:

First of all, You should read the instructions though are some ambiguous on this point of Good moral character. Only send documentation if it is related DUI or if you were arrested or cited by a law enforcement officer or go to court.

Second one, the best way you can do is CALL to Immigration Customer Service. They are going to answer any question regarding N-400 application. I did that and They told me ONLY put that information it you got arrested or cited by offense or crime . They are MINOR infractions that they don´t need you to put in the N400 application. Anyways, The said that you can bring the tickets you paid if you´re feeling better. Don´t worry about this.

            I hope this help.
I am going to apply for N-400.
            Good luck to everybody

              USCIS Customer Service Response

I was so thoroughly confused I called USCIS customer service yesterday, 9/5/2018. The rep told me to not include the single speeding ticket (case dismissed after driver's ed) on N-400.
Given the confusion and some IOs asking for documentation, I called the court anyways and have my documentation about case dismissal and fine payment ready, if needed. Might even get local police office clearance certificate, just in case.
Good luck to all of you.

when i mentioned past traffic tickets (i didn't put any down on the form) the IO was only interested in any i hadn't dealt with yet
