  • Traffic Tickets information while N400 submission

    Hi,

Do the Traffic Tickets needs to be mentioned in N400.

I came across Document Checklist, which says
"If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement officer for any reason"

Does this include Traffic voilation (Speeding, Parking).

    Thanks in advance.

Were you detained? If parking, then NO.
If speeding or citation by police YES. You will need to submit all documents (1. the original ticket, 2. any court documents. 3. cancel check or receipt showing that you paid all fines).

      traffic citations

Should I also be worried. I have traffic citations (not any major ones, speeding and minor accident). I forgot to mention traffic citations in my N-400that I filed in July. None of my traffic ticket were more than $250 or so. I am talking about citations like 5-6 years ago, but until recently, I got a speeding ticket that cost me a fine of $161.00 and that I have already paid. Officer told me that this ticket will not count any points on my driving record.
      Please advise!

If reckless driving or more serious, then you might want to mention (if over $400 fine, you will need to mention) and submit all documents (1. the original ticket, 2. any court documents. 3. cancel check or receipt showing that you paid all fines).
I believe that we need to mention all the tickets no matter if its minor speeding (i,e, YES to the question#16 in 10 part D). Thats what I was told by many people in this forum.
(no need to mention parking ticket).

        Can some senior confirm this?

I edited my response above. Question#16 in Part 10 should be YES to speeding tickets, moving violation, etc. You will need to submit all documents (1. the original ticket, 2. any court documents. 3. cancel check or receipt showing that you paid all fines).

If you did not initially answered YES to question #16, still its alright as traffic tickets do not need to be disclosed unless they involve an arrest or alcohol. During the interview, just tell the truth if they ask you about it.
