So here are the details, in case anyone is interested.
Date Dec 10th 2009 (Thursday)
appointment at 1:05, arrived at 12:40. Nice clean place and very efficiently passed through security. We are allowed to carry purses etc only no food/drink. The waiting room looked really full and crowded.
after checking in at the counter waited for 1 hr, called in exactly at 2:05. Nice Lady, smiling polite and funny.
Took oath before sitting down and immediately started with tesing. Read "WHICH STATE HAS MOST PEOPLE"
write "CALIFORNIA HAS MOST PEOPLE"
Questions asked.
What movement tried to end racial discrimination?
Name two national U.S. holidays
What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen
Where is the Statue of Liberty
The name of the governor of state?
Who was the first President?
She already had oath letter printed, just put a sticker with my name and address on it.
Just went over the application information very quickly/ without actually reading from it. To me it looked like they ask generic questions. Someone who has reviewd the file before flags the issues if any, otherwise its pretty much formality.
Was handed a letter that I passed the test and asked to wait for the letter of oath although it was ready and I could see it lying right there. (apparently a supervisor needs to finally approve it). Came out back to the waiting romm waited another 30 minutes and walked away with the letter of Oath.
Oath in on Monday afternoon (Dec 14th at 1:00 pm) and will be done with this process.
Met another couple while waiting, they had interview scheduled at 12:05. At 1:05 the husband went in first and next the wife. The husband got same day oath, wife will be back Monday same as me. Apparently it was really full yesterday, otherwise I could have been done same day. There were a lot of people with same day oath there. The crowd in the room was mostly family and friends of people taking oath.
Hope this helps anyone interested in the timeline and experiences.
