  • N400 after interview

    Dears
Here is my story me and my wife were green card holders since 2000, we applied the N400 in July 09 below is the timeline:

    Orlando,FL
    1. Jul 13,09 N400 mailed (Texas)
    2. Rcvd NOA
    3. Rcvd F/prints appointment
    4. Aug 08,09 F/prints done
    5. Sept,09 recvd interview appointment to be there at 9:00am Oct 6,09
    6. Arrived at the USCIS half an hour before the interview.

I was called first went in with the officer, he was very kind and understanding, the process took like 10 or 15 passed everything but i was requested for tax docs and went out, then my wife was called by another officer she went in and out after 20 minutes holding her oath ceremony letter.
I mailed the officer the requested docs the following day via fed-ex and was received, but as of this message i have not yet received anything, I'm serious I've lost 12pounds so far starting after my interview date. I dont have any problem if they deny my N400 but at least they should inform me instead of being kept in a sycological torture. Can someone please help if went on the same experience, maybe it might bring some comfort. Many thanks in advance for your help.

At last my long long long wait has ended and i got my Citizenship certificate, I'm so so happy and would like to thank all in this forum and especially poisentee, I hope i spelled the name correct.

FYI, my interview was on first week of Oct, 2009 yes 2009 and passed everything but was told to bring some extra documents and i did mail the requested docs to IO in 2 days time. However, i was then kept on hold since then, I called 1-800 number like 150X and took info-pass maybe more than i can recall. The only reply is that they are still doing background checks and it went on and on for almost 2 years and to be exact is 21 horrible months of my life.

For those who are experiencing the same, i just want to tell you that, hang on there and try all the ways you think might help and all will be fine.

Congrats!! However, waiting for 2 years after the interview??? As far as I know there is a rule that the USCIS is required to make a decision 120 days after the interview. For applications taking that long I would suggest to consult with an immigration lawyer if you can afford it financially.

                Hi Poisontee & nwctzn
It's good to read your replies as always and I also forgot to thank Plantationjockey (PJ) in my first post many thanks to all for all your inputs & congrats.

                Poisontee:
No doubt about the passport, as you all know they provide you with passport application form in a package before even receiving your certificate, and the US post personal are already there.

                nwctzn:
Yes you are correct about the 120 days rule, my opinion is getting a lawyer is like wasting your money, I believe you should only consult a lawyer if your case is really complicated or you did something wrong prior to your N-400 application which will or already in your history records.

                Once again thanks everybody.

                Muchas Gracias
