  • Name change at dallas office

Has anyone here requested name change at dallas office. I did my interview last month on 16 with name change request but i havent heard from them since. How long does it take to recieve oath letter? Thanks for the info.

Name change always delays the process.

Before you go through oath etc, you will have to go through court proceedings regarding name change. Therefore, wait to hear from them first.

That was not the case in Phoenix, AZ in a recent interview. The next available oath date was given even though there was a name change. Just FYI.

Thats true in cases where a Judge is proceeding the oath. Its a court session and the name change is allowed there!

In a DO where the Judge will not proceed the oath, then one will have to go through the courts to change the name!

        best of wishes!

That makes sense. Thanks for your input.

Do you know about passport application and OCI applications as well? I am wondering about time taken for these. Sometimes we can apply for passport right at time of oath ceremony. Is that faster or appointment with passport agency would be faster?

I may have to travel in 2 months and I am debating if I should postpone the oath.

I dont know anything about the OCI.

However, i know that if you go to a passport Agency, you can have your passport the same day. You pay for Expidited US Passports though.

I hope someone else can answer the other part of the question.

I read at the state departments website that the expedited passports are taking roughly the same amount as regular ones. They are refunding your money if that happens to you.
However you will get your passport within 10 business days, so if you finish your oath and have two months before you travel you can apply for the passport and get it. Also, you may have to factor in the time that it takes to get the visa to the country you are traveling.

              Postponing is another option too.
