I have been a permanent resident for 5 years and have just sent in my application for my citizenship.

Firstly, I'd like to know how long will it would take for me to become a citizen. Secondly, I have a daughter who lives in India and wants to come to the US to do her undergraduate degree in 2011. She will be 18 years old then and wanted find out if I should wait to apply for her permanent residency after I get get my citizenship or if I could do it now.

    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Ravi,
To answer the first part, I recently finished the naturalization process and it took me four and half months from the day I sent the application to the day I was sworn in as a US citizen.
I think you may have better luck becoming a US citizen and then sponsoring your daughter's Green card before she turns 18.
