  • Effect of convictions 18-20 yrs ago?

I had a DUI record in 1990 and a conviction for receiving stolen property (credit card) in 1992. I probably also had other traffic tickets (not DUI's) around that time. I got my GC in 2004 thru asylum and disclosed all these. I don't think I have had more than 5 other traffic tickets (nothing serious) in the past 16 years, out of which 1 or 2 may be within the past 5 years. Do you guys foresee any problem with my naturalization? My major concern is with the DUI and receiving stolen property issues of 1990 and 1992. The DUI was settled through a probation before judgement, but I plead guilty to the other. No time spent in jail but received a 30 day suspended sentence for the receiving stolen property. The DUI was in MD and the other in NJ. Again, both of these were declared during GC application, so they already know about them though I never was interviewed during the GC process. My feeling is that the overall case for the GC was srtong because it was asylum related. Could these now prevent my naturalization? Any idea?

I really do not want to use an attorney since I think they charge too much for something that can be done by oneself. I now live in NC.
