  • name change and naturalization

I have applied for name change and naturalization. It's 5 months since I was fingerprinted and haven't heard a word since. Is this normal? What can i do to expedite the process? Please help. I want to do this fast.

You can not expedite. Name change during natuarlization delays the process.

It is best to do name change either before or after naturalization.

Had my interview in Sept and am still waiting for oath. I suspect my name change is holding it up. Sad part is that I am changing to my "REAL" name as someone at the INS misspelled my name on my Green Card over 10 years ago.

A name change does not really delay anyone process.

The only mandatory step is applicant should take oath in front of a Fed or State judge. It depends on the next availability of oath ceremony by a judge. Other than that there are no special processes to a name change. I had my name change and my interview completed on Jan 5th 2010. The IO said my next available oath by a judge is in March. I have not received my OL yet, I guess, I had to wait till then.

No news yet on my case. Interview was done and over with in Sept. After a call to inquire they sent me a form letter saying that they are still reviewing my case...120 days have gone by and a bit more still no response.

My name change was not really a name change..The USCIS mispelled it.

Hello All, I had my interview on 1st April, San Jose Center. I had requested for a Name Change in the application, however during the interview the Officer mentioned that "They donot do any name change as court has taken back that privilege". Also offered to cancell the interview and reschedule it when I have an offical court order with new name.

I did not want to get into another argument and ask why, went ahead with the old name.
