Very confused

I live in Arizona. 2 years ago sent an application N400 and haven't heard back. I have a green card, married American for 8 years and have been living in the States for 4 years. Any advice? Thanks!

No. I called many times and they said that they are behind and I have to wait.

I sent N400 on July 8, 2008 to USCIS. Since then my husband called regularly to DC (almost every month). They can't confirm if they received my application because they are behind in processing. ???

If you applied two years and if they can't tell whether they received it not, something is seriously wrong.

Did you not send the application by certified mail with return receipt so that you know that post office delievered it?

If you sent the fees using a personal check, see if it was cashed. The cancelled check usually have the "Receipt Number" on them.

If the check wasn't cashed, consider that as application lost. Goto your bank and make sure to stop payment and resubmitt using updated forms, updated info, documents and send them to here:
/show-form/n-400

Even if they find your application now, they will issue Request for Evidence (RFE) to update your info on the forms and documents anyways.

Do not submit your application with "certified mail" or "signature required" to P.O. Box! They will not be able to deliver them. Instead use USPS Flat Rate envelope with delivery confirmation only to P.O. box or FedEx to express/courier deliveries address.

You can always send certified mail and return receipt to PO Box for USCIS.

People do that all the time.
