  • Certificate of citizenship

So bear with me please while I go through my whole ordeal... I came to the us with my parents when I was 6, I was 15 when my parents became citizens and received their certificate of natrulization. I should have gotten a certificate of Citizenship or some proof that I was a citizen then, however my parents never filed anything for me... it's never been an issue till I went to change my last name after getting married and the social security office demanded proof of my citizenship which I don't have. It's been 3 years now and I've made a foia request and was FINALLY able to get my alien number which took over a year alone.

I'm stuck in limbo now because when I go to fill out paperwork for my certificate of citizenship I dont have my parents certificate numbers (they now have passports and no record of their old certificates) so I am at a loss. Has any one dealt with this? I dont even know if the n-600 form is the right one I have to fill out. Thanks!

N-565, Application for Replacement Naturalization/Citizenship Document

Use this form to apply for a replacement Declaration of Intention; Naturalization Certificate; Certificate of Citizenship; or Repatriation Certificate; or to apply for a special certificate of naturalization as a U.S. citizen to be recognized by a foreign country.
