  • DMV record. little accident. Is it a problem?

    Hi guys,

    I have a question.
I am applying for N-400. In my record, I just have 2 tickets by parking and red light. For both I have the payments, so no problem.

In addition, I have a little crush in a parking lot. Both parts reported to our insurance. Only a little damage in one of the cars.
What could I bring with me in order to show that It wasnĀ“t due to a DUI or something like that?.
I donĀ“t know if a DMV record could be fine because I think that it has a lot codes.

    I really appreciate any help.
    Thank you

If you have a police or insurance report for the minor car crash.. those should be fine.. but I don't think either would be relevant..

I see that you are an applicant out of California.. if you don't mind me asking, can you let me know how long after you sent it your application did you receive your NOA letter.. or when your payment was deposited? My application was received by the Phoenix AZ office on March 12 but no letter yet and my check has not yet been deposited. I'm also from California. Thanks.

      Hi bayareamom,

      Thank you for your answer.

First of all, I donĀ“t have any police or insurance report. It happened in a parking lot and we both reported to insurance. So I think that I should contact my old insurance.

Second, I am applying in California. I sent the application on March 11 (Phonenix AZ) and not yet cashed. They are receiving a lot applications each day from different states. So donĀ“t worry. If everything is fine it should be cashed. Anyways after 30 days, you could contact them.

      Good luck.
      Thanks

My wife had a minor accident when she was changing lanes in 2002 and it was our mistake. Cop came to the spot. I had couple of speeding tickets in 2001 and 2004 time frame. We did not mention them in the N400 application.
Our interview went well and we got the citizenship last friday. Not questions asked about traffic incidents.

          Hi rd123,

Where did you get your interview??. I think that it depends of the immigration officer in your case because I saw some people in this forum that were requested to provide payments for ticket.

          Thanks

Interview was in Concord NH. I spoke to other friends of mine who got citizenship about mentioning traffic violations and they told me they did not. If it is DUI related then you must. If it is an issue like speeding or crossing the red light then i dont think we need to mention as long as the total fine is not more than 500 dollars.

              Thanks rd123,

I sent the application and didnĀ“t mention the traffic citations. I think your right. The guys have mentioned it were asked questions and maybe requested payments or something like that.

              Again thank you.
