You are US citizen when you take oath.

It would be best not to reschedule your interview/oath dates. Make your travel plans around that. Otherwise, you are looking at the long delay.

Thanks. Is the oath just final final closing, on the oath cermony the natrualization certificate issue so the other process already taken care right? I am still thinking about oath ceremony postponement.

Actually request for name change in the application, I was told by a friend that will take additional time and it will be issue in court.

I am adding things other way around to buy time.

      Any advice appreciated!

You get the naturalization certificate at the time of oath.

          Thanks for the reply!
so if that is the case, any postponement would be getting certificate, it may not affect the previous process until oath, or, they just push it for acouple of months. Sorry for intriguing questions, just to make sure weigh the travel cancellation option and that would cost $1200 plus dollars.....and other headaches...

I just want o share my experience, today in my interview, I asked when would be oath ceremony, The reply was 2 to 6 weeks, then I asked any specifice dates, then she asked any plans for vacation , I said yes and in a month, then she said ok, I will put a note to do my oath after my return date july 16th. she was very cordial.

But the fact I just had my interview today so the rest I will update when I receive my ceremony letter or after I am back from vacation.

I am a US citizen. I had the oath today. To breakdown the process time, took total 5 months, inclusive of 2 delays which were 1 week postponement of the initial scheduled fingerprint date and 6 weeks vacation outside of united states after the interview. I am not encouraging to postpone the given dates for fingerprint and oath date, but I shared my experience if at all any body falls in to unavoidable situation to postpone. I read other posts that postponing interview date put in delay and file disappearance.

Best of luck to all. I will visit back if I see any questions that I can post with my experience.

              Thanks immihelp, admin and y'll!
