  • I passed my naturalization interview!!!

First and foremost, I want to thank N400Questions for always answering my questions, helping me and calming my nerves (and boy, did I have many lol).

I am curious, my husband and I plan to go to our much delayed honeymoon in June 2020, but am wondering what to do at this point. The officer told me that I would receive a letter of my oath in about 2-3 weeks and I would like to know how long people wait and what their scheduled date is. I've heard all sorts of dates and I really hope I do not get a delayed date. Also, I have an expired Korean passport (which I will be turning in with my green card at oath), so will need to make a new passport. Just curious how and when I should make my passport. I did hear that there is some sort of passport forms when you receive your citizenship packet at oath, but any more info would be greatly appreciated.

    thank you!!!!!

I'm so happy for you! I've had my fingers crossed for the past week so I can now uncross them. ;-)

Just out of interest... did the jaywalking even crop up in the interview? I'm guessing not but I'm intrigued to know.
I'm also intrigued to know if those tax transcripts were useful or if they skipped right by the tax questions.

I anticipate you will have completed your oath LONG before June 2020. Maybe a few weeks from now, perhaps a couple of months.. if it gets past there you get to join the "Why is my oath taking so long?" club. Membership is free. ;-)

You can apply for your US passport 1 second after receiving the Naturalization Certificate. Just google for instructions... the ceremony folks will also give you instructions.
This homepage includes links to other pages with information on filling out a form, getting processing times, the cost of a passport, taking a good photo, and getting citizenship evidence and photo ID.

    Yay!!!

      Hello!

I had brought the jaywalking subject up when asked about any tickets. The officer seemed to understand and told me about a similar situation that happened to her friend about crossing the street during the blinking hand. She then wrote in the system the approximate time that happened since I lost/threw away that ticket and it was not an issue at all. She was incredibly friendly and calming!

She also didn't ask anything about the late taxes or my accidentally writing down the wrong dates for my employment history. The interview was a breeze! I passed all 6 questions (which I don't remember anymore lol).

Thank you so much again N400Questions!!!!!! As you have mentioned in earlier posts of mine ... I really was worrying for no reason! :P

Glad everything worked out well for you and that you learned that there was nothing significant to worry about (even though it probably felt hard to think that way at the time).
Check out that David Burns information I mentioned in one of your other posts... it can be a life-changer for defeating those debilitating anxious thoughts.
        All the best.
