Continuous Residency Clarification
Hi,
I would appreciate if experience members can provide guidance. Please bear with me, mine a little long story...
My family and I got my green card in Feb 2001.
Let the country for employment in Aug 2001 with a foreign company. Applied for Re- Entry Permit.
We have been with the foreign employer for last 9 years.
We have been returning to the US each year for at least 3 weeks each time. So, we have never broken the more than 365 day rule.
We have been applying and getting approved for R-Entry Permit each time.
Last Entry in 2010: March 2010 and Left in April 2010 to finalize affairs with foreign company.
Expected to return to US in July 2010 to take employment with foreign company's office in the US.
When can I file for Citizenship?
We have maintained 2 properties in the US all the time and property taxes.
We have filed Resident Tax Returns each year and paid taxes.
We have maintained bank accounts, investment accounts, etc in the US all the time.
Our salary with the foreign company is deposited each month into the US Bank Account.
So, I am wondering if I have maintained continuous residence all the time.
Will we have to wait till July 2015 to meet the 5 years continuous residence?
Or can we file in March 2015 since that is when we last returned to the US and from there we never left the US for more than 6 months?
I would appreciate your guidance.
