  • Interview was very hard - can you help with the following information

    Hello,

Today me and my husband had interview and dont know why they asked for more evidence of the company my husband worked and filed his green card, employment verfication, client locations, dates of wroking with each client, name of supervisor to whom he reported, w2 forms, tax returns, proof that we paid taxes from state and federal, I-140 , I-129 petition by company which filed greed card etc. Not sure why they want in detail as everything might have been verified during green card process.

They asked us to provide the above proofs before end of june.

I think they might be more strict because of recent NYC bomb attack trial.

Do anybody know and give the following information:

    1. what is Personal Affidivit? (asking how you find the job, how you were recruited, how you were paid, direct supervisors including client sites and direct supervisors) IS PERSONAL AFFIDIT IS KIND OF NOTARISED LETTER ?

    2. What is IRS tax account transcript for PERSONAL TAX RETURNS?(are they different from federal or state tax returns like if we have self employment, business or filing by 1099 ??)

    thanks,
    SK

IRS tax transcript is just a document from IRS that summarizes your tax return that was filed for a given year. It is free and you need to call the IRS 800 number and request for the tax transcript. In my case, I called twice: the first time it was automated while the second time it was a real agent. Both times I received the transcript within 10 days. I believe they issue transcripts for the last 3-5 years. Once you request the transcript, you will receive it within 10-15 days.

        Hope this helps.

          Suja,
Sorry to hear your case. But most of the questions they asked you are normal. I got my citizenship in Nov'09. They asked me most of those questions (like; my previous living addresses, employers details, who filed my GC, dates of employment etc...). I had prepared for all those questions. Did you go through older posts (last year) on this forum to know how to prepare for Interview?
In my opinion, this forum was much better last year than now to obtain information on N-400 process & interview.

            Hello,

thanks for your replies, I am not telling that I could not provide or answer to questions in interview, me and my husband answered correctly and truly to all the questions about our residence, employment details etc.

but they somehow not satisfied with the employer details, they want more proofs like I-140 filing date, number from employer, tax transcripts etc. we felt like they want to make our case on hold and ask to come again and again with laundry list of documents. we are hiring immigration lawyer to get better help.

            SK.

To Suja - sorry that you're running into this.. I'm currently applying for citizenship as well and just had my fingerprinting down a few weeks ago and now awaiting my interview letter. I think your story is the fear that many have when it comes to interviews.. I'm sure that all will be okay with your case since you have all that they need.. it may just take some extra time. If you don't mind me asking, what service center did you interview out of? Thank you.

It is hartford (CT) office, and I see couple of threads in this forum saying that their cases are also pending for some or other reason. when we consulted immigration lawyer, he said he got two cases recently from hartford office.

                dont know whats happening there.
