  • Tax return question when filing N-400

Hi , I have a few question I hope someone can answer

    1) My husband is now eligible to file for citizenship . Do they want every single page of the tax returns they ask for when filing on line ?
    2) I filed jointly in 2016 and 2017 but I haven't worked or earned any money since then and my husband has never worked in the US . Should I send my returns with the application ?
    3) Our son co-sponsored him for his green card which he was issued with in 2015 , will he have to co-sponsor him again for citizenship or will my tax returns be sufficient ?

    Much appreciated , thank you

    Carol,
There is nowhere on the required document for citizenship that ask for your tax return. You should check the USCIS website for forms and you will see what are the required documents you will need. However, after submitting your application for your husband, immigration can asked for any additional evidence.
There is a question on the application that asked if you filed your taxes? And just remember because someone was unemployed doesn't they are exempt from filing their taxes.

But my advise to you is, go on their website and download the form and go through the questions to have a better understanding of what is required/needed to submit application for citizenship.

    Good luck!
