I hope I am posting this in the correct forum.
Posting this on behalf of my girlfriend's brother, who is "stateless"/"doubly undocumented"; he was born in Mexico, and brought over to the United States shortly after birth. He was born to a teenage girl, and the birth was witnessed by her grandfather (born on a blanket, not in a hospital/not witnessed by a doctor or midwife etc.), and has no birth certificate in his country of birth. He is 18, and about to graduate high school this June 2020. He has goals and aspirations (possibly military), of good moral character, no criminal record, but no birth certificate or documents signifying his citizenship status in the US. I have been welcomed by the family, and would like to help out in any way that I can.
The adoptive mother has no reason as to why she did not take further steps into this at his birth, and has apparently spent a lot of money attempting to receive some form of legal residency for him. He does not speak Spanish, and has only ever lived in the US. I am just starting to look into this, and am hoping anyone has resources, advice, or shared experience in this. Anything helps.
Thank you
