Selective Service Question

I’m applying online. I’m 34 years old and I’ve had my green card for 6 years now. One problem i am having is in the application it tells me if i was in the United States between the ages of 18-26 i should have applied for selective services. I was illegal then. As an immigrant. That was before i got my documents. It asks me to provide a statement as to why i didn’t apply for selective services. Anyone has any idea about this?

Illegal immigrants are required to register for Selective Service. Since you are over 31 now, your failure to register does not affect your naturalization, and you shouldn't need to provide any documentation for it. Where does it ask you to provide a statement?
