Husband will be applying after 3 years of being permanent resident.
He was undocumented and has a detainment with voluntary return from the 90s... this in the end made him have to go back to his home country to get i601 waiver and ultimately green card, this took 2 years! The N-400 question is "how many days outside the US for the last 5 years" which in my husband's case would be 2 years, being the 2 years prior to him receiving a green card and ability to return to the US... is there a modified application for 3 years and married applicants? If not do I put 2 years in the blank for days outside the US with perhaps an explanation, even though they should have all the records of when and why he left the US???
