Hi, I am a religious worker who came to the US on a green card in 2017 February, however, left to India, on a re-entry permit to pursue religious work for the duration of 2 years and later returned to the US in 2019 October and had been residing in the US since then. I came to know about form N-470 that can preserve one's residence for naturalization purposes and I am planning to file an application for the same. I also realized the following exceptions for religious workers:
Religious workers may apply: 1. Before departing from the United States; 2. After departing from the United States; or 3. After returning to the United States. Religious workers are not required to have lived in the United States for a specific period of time prior to filing Form N-470.
I wanted to see if any one (with any prior experience filing form N-470) could comment on my situation (highlighted above) - if it's okay for me to file for an N-470 now (this month, 07/22/20) which is post 9 months after me returning to the U.S.
Thanks,
CK
