  • The Oath for Citizenship

    Hello, everyone!
Just one question...(I asked it couple days before, but I'll put it simple now)

After the interview for Citizenship how fast should I take the Oath, may I postpone it for about six months (to leave to my home country) and take the Oath when I am back to the US, is there any time limits?

Waiting for suggestions, Thanks in advance..

First, I don't think you choose day for oath!! You will recive by mail or will be notified at the time of the interview about date for Oath!!
Imigration don't want you postpone becouse until the Oath it's like you belong to them, after you are American, they don't care more about, that's why I don't they like to let you choose date. Just do it at the time they will tell you!!!!

This question gets asked often - there's a similar one a few pages back. I think the standard immihelp response is "not advisable to delay the oath".

One of the respondants noted that they asked the IO if would be OK to travel after the interview and to delay the oath, the officer said no problem and made a note in the file as to when they would be back.....
