  • N400 Interview Rescheduled due to unforseen circomstences

I tried to find similar post but couldn't.

My interview was cancelled on 05/18/2010 and have not received a new appointment yet. The reason I was told is due to the fact that my file never made it to the local office. From Texas to Kansas to Charlotte.

Appreciate any feedback of what can be done if any other than wait patiently.

    Date filed N400: 02/21/2010
Finger Print Date: (Mid to early March 2010)
Appointment Notice for Interview sent : April 6th, 2010
    First scheduled Interview Date: 05/27/2010
    Cancelled Interview Date: 05/18/2010
    New Interview date: ?????

I am on the same situation. Interview Descheduled on May 21, Original Interview date on June 2nd, Orlando DO. I was told they don't have my file. I scheduled an infopass, and they sent me a letter 10 days later saying case "under additional review". As of today, I have not received a new interview letter on the mail. I read in other forums that it could me name check delay. I also read that file might be lost. There is no a real answer. If anybody has any experience on this situation, please help.

      Still no rescheduled appointment.

The answer I am getting now is that my case is pending further background check.

Who knows how long this will take.

Still no interview yet. I was told there is a backlog in the local offices and have to wait until my turn comes.

            Local Office: Charlotte, NC

            Anyone with similar problem ?

Is the local office far from you? If not I would suggest to schedule an infopass appointment and talk to them in person. I know that some people were able to get their interview appointments when they did that. So I would try it out and see if it works out. It has been now one year since your original interview date, so even if there is a backlog you should have priority.

I agree with you NWCTZN. Call and schedule a an Infopass appointment is better before hiring a lawyer.
I was at Charlotte Office on May 16, 2011. I did not hear anything about such thing. Everything went well with my Citizenship interview ( about 20 minutes total). The people that I have the interview the same day with got their Oath ceremony appointment at this same time! I did not get my Oath day at the time because I was changing my name and I did not bring my marriage license. The officer told me it would not cause any problem or delay; just mail the needed document and my schedule time with be set in the coming days!

I had scheduled 3 infopass and at one of them I brought a lawyer with me.
Nothing happened other than being told my file still active.

Good news:I finally got my letter yesterday to show up for an interview !!!

Done the interview. But my fingerprint had expired and am scheduled to do them in 10 days so no decision can be made.

However, my status changed from testing & Interview to Request for Evidence, is this the case with fingerprint ?

Absolutely! Nothing to worry about; just wait! I had the same thing when I was request to sent a missing document after my Naturalization interview! It will clear after the fingerprints and get to the next step, normally! Good luck again!

I have been waiting since July 25th for the oath cermony scheduling but have not heard anything yet. Is it normal to take that long ?

That's quite a while. I would schedule an infopass appointment at your local USCIS office and talk to an agent. They might give you your oath appointment on spot.

I was about to do that and I received a status change that my application is now in the queue to be scheduled for the oath ceremony.
