  • Is the following receipt number is valid ?

Me and my wife received the NOA Receipt Numbers as it starts with

    NBC*________20
    NBC*________21

We filed in Texas office. Is it common that Texas Receipt numbers starts with NBC. I heard that Texas receipt numbers starts with SRC.

    Any discussion is greatly welcome.

          Not a problem

NBC stands for the National Benefits Center in Lee's Summit, Missouri.

When you file, you mail it to a "Lockbox" location. That is a contractor paid to accept, receipt, process payment and data enter applications and petitions into the computer. They don't know anything about the law. They check to see if you signed it and enclosed the right fee.

The lockbox sends certain forms to certain USCIS facilities. N-400's go to NBC. They do the preliminary file review, check for basic filing eligibility and send a general request for evidence for missing evidence, sometime they make mistakes in asking for the wrong stuff. They don't have the expertise that your interviewer will have. You can sort it out at the interview.

Then when you are interview ready the computer generates lists for the individual field offices. The filed offices provide a schedule with a certain number slots available based on staffing. The computer drop files that are ready into those slots basically on a first come, first served basis per office. The files are bundled up and sent to the office the interview.

Hope this helps and spread it around. There are way too many people confused about this.

          Bye
