  • Queries before applying for N400

    Hi,

We have 2 major issues wanted to check if this would affect our N400 application.

    1) Our tax consultant missed to file taxes for a year and they were filed late we paid them off recently should we wait or procure a letter from IRS stating that taxes have been paid and attach to the application. will this red any red flag?

    2) our credit score is ok with some delinquency we are trying to settle the accounts. Will thsi affect our case.

Should we get a lawyers help to apply.

    Please advice

    Thanks In advance

For #1 - Not an issue if you have paid all taxes and penalties that are due to IRS. No need for any tax proof while filing. You can take the proof of taxes and penalties paid to your interview

For #2 - They don't care about personal finance issues as long as there is no court case against you.

I agree with the response above. I’d take all your tax information to the interview. I’d request an account transcript for each year since it shows everything. You can get it online from irs website
