I had an interview on Apr 20. I still haven't heard a word. When I read the different stories, it seems cases are approved much faster. Can anyone tell me why? I have no clue.

Makam 321,
Sorry to hear about the delay. Were you approved when you Interviewed in April or were you told that a decision would be sent in the Mail?
I am trying to figure out why the delay. My suggestion is make an Info Pass Appointment to see why there is a delay. I have heard of delays when a decision has not been made and you are told that you'll get something in the mail But it is worth making an Info Pass Appointment.
Please keep us posted on how it goes

I have similar situation. Interviewed in mid March and still waiting for the decision.
Well, I had one parkin violation ticket in DC area in May. I paid the fine next day. Not sure this could delay the decision making process.
Infopass has very limited options. I thought to take the Infopass appointment but it has very specific situation you could make an appointment. I did use the e-request feature to send a request to USICS inquiring about the status of my case. you could only use this option for i-90 and n-400.

I hope you hear something soon. The advantage of Info Pass is that you speak to an officer face to Face. There is an option on the Info Pass website that says " You need information or other services", You shouldn't have a problem getting an appointment. I hope you hear back from them inregards to your case soon.

Same boat but mine has gooooone toooo faaaaaaar
Hi MAN2010
I do understand the frustration, and this is just to cool you down. My N-400 interview was done on October 06, 2009 the officer was very kind as he went thru all the questions he finished and the normal 6 questions and passed everything, he then requested me to provide him with tax transcripts for the past 3 years. I went to the IRS office got my print outs and mailed them right away and they were received on Oct 09, 2009.
As of this email nothing received from them, i called 800 for more than 56 times and thanks god its toll free, i took 28 info passes and no officer could give me an answers, my last info pass was 2 weeks ago and I even told them i just need an answer a yes or NO will do for me instead of being kept hanging.
I hope my case will lift a couple of weights over your head, I lost a lot of weight because of thinking and waiting for their reply. Anyway, dont worry you might here something soon.

Well, in my experience, I have heard few reasons as why the case will be on hold after passing interview:-
1) If the candidate wants a name change in US passport. This would take for ever to get to the Oath since it will have to be done in local court.
2) If the candidate has a serious driving history issues. Just a speeding ticket or signal pass tickets etc...wont be a big deal as long as you show the proof that you paid the ticket & get clearence from the local court.
3) If the taxes are not filed with IRS for the current year & previous year.
4) If the previous addresses not yet verified fully by FBI (yes, many times interviews will be scheduled without even the clearence from FBI).
5) If you have changed the job immediately (i,e, before 6months) after getting your GC with your employer. (If you got laid off, no problems. But If you quit, then its a issue).

What if you need to travel? Renew current passport?
What if you need to travel soon?
My current non-U.S. passport is going to expire next month. The delay puts me in a dilemma -- to renew or not to renew my current passport? What if I have to travel in a few months? Does any one have similar experience and have any suggestions?
