Need to renew Indian Passport prior to Naturalization Interview?

Hi All,

My India passport expired in Jan this year. I applied for Naturalization Aug of last year and just received my interview notice today.

I have also prepared my Indian passport renewal package and paid the necessary fees to VFS.

Do I really need to go and ahead with my passport renewal process given that I will probably get my US passport by mid-year?
