Travel after citizenship interview?

I just received the notice with interview date on 6/30. However, I have a planned travel leaving the country on 7/5 and won’t return till mid-August. Do you know if the officer usually ask to return the greencard on the interview date? Can I request to reschedule the oath ceremony date or if I should just request to reschedule the interview now?
Anyone who recently interviewed/ applied in New York office, can you please share your experience?
Appreciate if anyone has similar experience, please kindly advise. Thank you!

They won't take your GC at the interview, they will just check it and return it to you.

If you are leaving the county on 7/5 and won't return till mid-august, what will happen if the oath ceremony falls on a date when you are out of the country? It is not advisable to miss your oath. You can have it rescheduled, but I wouldn't take the risk.

First option would be to postpone your travel till after you become a citizen and get a US passport.
But, if you must travel, then inform your travel plans to the officer during the interview and maybe they can schedule your oath after mid-august.

I highly advise not to leave the country until your oath ceremony is complete. Reschedule your trip. So many people are having multiple issues with not being scheduled second time.
