  • Applying for citizenship.

I am married to a US citizen. I am able to apply for citizenship under 3 year rule already, I live in North Carolina but my husband works in New Jersey. Will that affect me? He stays in NJ because of work but we still married. Will that affect me if I apply under 3 year rule ? Thank you for your answers

You need to have been married and "living in marital union" for the last 3 years. Living in marital union usually requires living together. In some cases, it's possible to satisfy this despite living apart, if it's for employment or other reasons beyond your control. See USCIS Policy Manual, Volume 12, Part G, Chapter 2, section D, especially the part on "Involuntary Separation", for more details.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
