  • Name change during citizenship interview

Did anyone change their name during the citizenship interview? I would like to go back to my maiden name. My immigration office is in Fresno, CA. I have the interview on 8/20/2021.
Any advice/experience would help. Thank you!

From what I heard is easy to do. Our home country uses 2 last names, the officer asked my father-in-law if he wanted to change his name and he asked to remove the second last name. The officer filed a form and that's it.

How long after was he able to take the oath? I see that for those that are changing their name it can take up to 2-3 months.

This was last year, so the oath delay then was due to Covid not name change. I don't know if there is a difference in wait time for those that change the name or not. IIRC my mother-in-law didn't change the name and the oath was the same day.
