We were married in Vegas in March 2010, sent off I-130 paperwork when we got back in April, got the receipt, and thats the last that we have gotten, the online status has not changed and nothing has come in the mail, this typical? Its been 5 months now, is there anything else we should be doing? She is from canada.

You can file a Form I-12F for a K-3 visa
Go to uscis FORMS tab and fill ou and file a form I-29F for your spouse. It's fee to the person who filed the I-130 petition.
She can come as a nonimmigrant and file for adjustment of status (I-485) instead of Consular processing.
