  • I-90 Renewal Green Card Request for Evidence Denied or Approved

I got a request for evidence to prove my legal name by the way of passport, marriage certificate or Birth Certificate. Not married so no marriage certificate. no passport as I have not traveled. and I lost my birth certificate.

They do not accept drivers license, social security card for proof either. I still have my old expired green card.

However the letter also says to request they would also review the and make a decision base on the record. What are the chances they will approve the request if I cannot provide these documents? I have been a good resident no run ins with the law or any sort.

    Thanks for any answers

    How did you immigrate?

From your user name, did you win the visa lottery, come from a country where recordkeeping leaves something to be desired?

If the only proof you've got is what's in your A-file then you may need to direct them to it.

Also, do you have more than one application pending at the same time? LIke an N-400 and an I-90 and maybe some Visa petitions for relatives?

If so it could be causing an internal stuggle for the file with the documents in it.

If the officer in the Service Center is working on your I-90, then she requested the file and some underpaid contract clerk went to fetch it to give to her. BUT, the officer in the local field office requested it for your N-400, so some other underpaid clerk went to get for him.

And then if you have even more application and/or petitions they also may be causing other officers to request the file. That means more underpaid (mindless) contract clerks getting 10 cents above minimum wage are trying to get the file.

There may be 2 or 3 or more(?) underpaid clerks running around taking the file off of someone's desk or off of a fileroom shelf and sending to either different locations in the same warehouse-sized building or between differnt office in different cities nor even different states.

That means that NOBODY gets the file they need to decide your various cases.

If you have multiple pending cases, write a letter that lists them all by receipt number and your A-number. Send copies to all your filing offices. The local office with your N-400, and the Service Center(s) withe other applications and/or petitions. State your priority and hope that ONE Officer takes the lead in getting you back on track.

If you have a pending N-400, make an InfoPass appointment and explain the situation. The N-400 should take priority and if it appears that it can be granted, you could offer to withdraw the I-90 because once you get naturalized you can't have your greencard anymore.

    Good Luck,

    Bye
