  • Naturalization Interview Issue

    Hi Everyone

I am a regular member of this forum for the last 7 years and I thank this forum is helping me to get all information from different posts and opinions.
I have a couple of concerns regarding the interview process and kid's passport application, I hope this is a common issue and members in this forum are aware of this and are able to help my concerns.
First, I have applied for the N-400 application for myself and my wife at the same time, but I received a notification regarding my interview which is scheduled for next month my wife didn't receive it which is already one week past my notification date. Is this a usual activity that every individual couple gets the notification within the gap?

Secondly, Let's say, If I am successful and do naturalization on time, but I have 2 children behind me waiting to get their passport as well. So, if my wife's interview gets delayed, can they apply for the passport with my naturalization certification or do they have to wait until my wife's naturalization certification?

I hope someone in this forum will be there to help me with my question.

    Thanks

    1. USCIS adjucates each case independently. So possible the timelines of interview/case-officer assigned etc will differ.

    2. Yes. Minor kids already listed as dependents on the parents N-400 application and legally living in the US will acquire citizenship once one of the parents naturalize. Obviously, you will have to get that documented by getting US passports or applying for Certificate of Citizenship (N-600). N-600 is optional and only if you see benefits in the long run.
