  • Continuous Residence Question

Hi, I have been on a Green Card status for a little over 4 years now out of which I was in the US for 2.5+ years.
I have never left the US for more than 180 days at a time, but during the pandemic in 2021 I had to leave the country twice which resulted in me being in the country for only 4.5 months total (I had to take care of my parents due to their health condition)

But again, I never broke the rule of being over 180 days outside of the US at a time.
Does my situation still count as continuous residence or have I broken some rules?

Yes, as long as you were not out of US for more than 180 days, you are fine. You didn't break continuous residence rule. Physical presence required for N400 is 3 years out of the last 5 years and doesn't need to be continuous.

Were the two absences very close together (like you just briefly stopped in the US and left again)? Or were they separated by a period of residence in the US?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
