  • Fee Waiver request

Has anyone out there ever applied for a fee waver for form N-400.
If so, is it sent separately, or attached or sent with filled out form N-400?
I'm unemployed right now and can't afford the fee. Was given the application at INS info desk. Thanks for helping

It's going to be Form I-912 (it it ever get finished with the legal requirements)

    Ms./Mr. Schultz,

You can get a copy of the USCIS Draft fee waiver form I-912, and instruction at: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Re...SCIS-2010-0008

It's not official yet but should help you put your request together (you could fill it out and cut off or white out the "official headers and footer and the Form Number). It would be easier and I don't think they would reject it--as it would make their job easier, they like that.

Also oin uscis.gov get yourself a copy of form I-864P (Poverty Guigelines) for calculatiing eligibility.

The fee for an N-400 can be waived. However, those "paper tigers" at USCIS want DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE of your inability top pay.

Most people end up thinking something like----HEY, USCIS, if I could afford to have an accountant fill this thing out, I wouldn't need it!

Start with the Poverty Guidelines before trying to tackle the USCIS request.

If you decide to do it, you file it with the form (don't send payment) and if they deny the fee waiver they will sent the application package back and ask you to pay when you re-file.

On unemployment, you'll probably get it unless you have a lot of money in the bank. Please keep us updated her.

    Good Luck,
