  • N-400(citizenship) application processing time (New York City)

Hey everyone , i filled my i-751 application to remove my condition on my GC in August 2021 but it is still pending. I check the uscis website and it shows it will take 15 months for vermont service center but as you know there is no guarantee for timeline. At the same time im eligible for citizenship for 3 year rule. I was wondering if anyone apply for citizenship from New York City lately ? It used to be 18 months processing time but what i heard lately is taking 6 months . Im planing to apply online but i couldnt decide if i should wait first 10 year card . Please share your experience with me if you applied citizenship from NYC , thank you.

hey! I’m in Boston but my office is also Vermont. I sent my paperwork for the second green card at the end of October 2021. I had a consultation with a lawyer and she advised me to apply on my 3-year anniversary. She said that it will likely expedite the I-751 application. Planning on applying for my citizenship in January!

Hi there, NYC case here, I applied for my I-751 last year in March and never received 10-year green card, only two extension letters. This year I was eligible to apply for Citizenship and I applied online in the beginning of April of this year and got my interview invite for August 22, passed interview, oath ceremony scheduled for September 30th and all done. So it was less than 6 months for me. (Vermont Service). Good Luck

my timeline for N-400 while i751 pending

          8 Aug 22 - filed N-400 application
          30 Oct 22 - interview was scheduled
14 Nov 22 - interview date - started with civic tests, passed then interviewed for i751, the officer asked my husband to come in after. we didnt get approve on the spot because I submitted not enought document 😂😂😂 my bad I was too lazy to prepare. I uploaded more doc the same day
21 Nov 22 - oath ceremony notice was mailed (Dec 14)

so it took about 4 months which was very surprised. because when I applied for my greencard it took 20 months to get approved

Thank you sharing for your timeline , im planing to apply n-400 , im in nyc and my i-751 is still pending. It is very lucky you got done everything in 4months. I have a few questions?

1- Did you apply online for n-400 ? What office was taking care of your n-400?
2-How was your i-751 interview? Did the officer has your i-751 file?
3-Which documents were missing and for which application? Thank you and Congrats

I applies online and uploaded the same document I sent for i751 (my i751 is EAC and n400 is IOE)

I am not sure if OI had my i751 files but from what I saw she looked at the ones I uploaded for n400

the documents she asked was the recent one (between 2021-2022) I only submitted ones 2019-2020 as I used the same ones i sent for my i751

              hopw that help
