  • Surrendering Greencard

I have an initial naturalization interview on Dec, at the USCIS San Jose Field office. Can anyone tell me when I will be asked to surrender my greencard? Do they allowed to postpone the oath ceremony / keep resident status if I have travel plans soon. Thank you! And good luck to everyone

You only turn in your green card when you take the oath. So it depends on when they schedule your oath.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thank you! Is it true that some places do the oath ceremony the same day as the civics test?

During the interview my officer asked me if I had any travel plans coming up! During your interview I would let them know your travel dates and they may schedule the oath after you return.
