  • For those who had the N400 + I751 combo interview…

So I passed the civics, writing and oral test.

However, the officer said he couldn’t approve the citizenship today because he has to approve the 751 application first, which he said he will, and it should take 24 hours for their system to acknowledge this and by then he can approve my N400 application.

In the paper he gave to me, he checked the part that says they couldn’t make a decision yet about my application. However, he assured me that everything is okay because he did say he will approve my I751 application and then the N400 later. I hope that he stays true to what he said. Would love to wake up to good news tomorrow!

Has anyone else experienced this? And was your N400 approved the day after your interview? Just a little worried because I’ve read some cases here where they were approved for citizenship on the spot while their 751 has not been approved yet.

im on the same boat , i applied n-400 end of november with pending i-751 . My i-751 is transferred to nbc and im waiting for interview for n-400. (NYC )

I believe they can approve both cases on the spot if the same office has your i-751. After applying n-400 did your i-751 was transferred to ?
Where are you applying from , did you go to interview with your spouse or alone? Also how long did you wait to interview to be scheduled , thanks!

For clarification, the officer who interviewed me has the I751 application and evidence in hand. I had a combo interview.

He said that he was going to approve both 751 and N400 cases, but he can only approve 751 during the interview and then the N400 after 24 hours because the system won’t allow to approve both at the same time apparently. He handed me over a document (N652) where he checked 1. You passed the test 2. A decision cannot be made yet about your application. However, he did promise that he will approve my N400 after 24 hours.

So my question builds up from here - to those who have been interviewed already, have you experienced this same thing?

I interviewed with a pending I-751. The officer did a combo interview first but didn't have my A-file, got the same decision as you, but wasn't told when they'd get the A-file to approve both cases.

Same here! I just finished my n400 interview today. I passed the test but because of the I-751 they can’t make the decision now. It seems like they don’t have my I-751 on file. I wonder how long this is gonna take. I really want to travel in summer.
