  • Oath Ceremony taking a long time to schedule

Hi all -- my husband's oath ceremony is taking a long time to schedule. He had his interview 9 weeks ago, and still his status on USCIS says that he has been placed in line for his oath ceremony. My county only holds two oath ceremonies a year and the second one is coming up in less than two weeks. I reached out to USCIS and they said I can reach back out again after 90 days have passed. Anyone else experience these long wait times? My husband is doing a name change with his N400, does anyone know if that is a factor in delayed oath ceremonies?

    Thanks!

Did he ask to change his name?

Otherwise USCIS gets at most 120 days to administer oath

Thanks for your response. Yes, he did ask to change his name. Would you suppose that's the reason for the delay?

I will! How long has it been for you? It's now been been about 70 days for my husband since he was approved at the interview.

I would say due to his name change his oath ceremony will have take place before a federal judge at court house instead of the uscis office, hence the delay.

Thank you, that makes sense. However, I think most cases in my area are done by a federal judge at a court house. I know the next one is happening on July 24th, and I though my husband would be scheduled for that one but he wasn't. Which adds to my confusion as to why it is taking so long.

                    Yes. I said that before.

I only have 26 days. But I think it only remains to wait. What city and state do they live in?

We've been waiting over 100 days now. We're in Harrisburg, PA. My understanding is that there are very few ceremonies held here. Where are you located?
