  • N400 Application - Employment History

    Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of filling out my N-400 application. Regarding employment history, I quit my job about 6 months ago and have since become a shareholder in a start-up established overseas.

While I technically work for a foreign company, I continue to live in the United States as I work remotely. I've read that the USCIS tends to be wary of applicants working for foreign companies, as it could potentially jeopardize their permanent resident status. I don't want this situation to negatively impact my application. Could I encounter any potential issues due to this?

I appreciate your answers in advance!

      • This section of the N-400 form will ask you about your employment history over the past five years, including your current job.
    1. Current Job:
      • Start by providing information about your current employer. This includes the company or organization's name, your job title, the address of your workplace, and the dates of employment (start and end dates).
    2. Previous Jobs:
      • List your previous employers in chronological order, starting with the most recent job before your current one.
      • Provide the name of the employer, your job title, the address of your workplace, and the dates of employment (start and end dates) for each job.
    3. Unemployed or Self-Employed:
      • If you were unemployed during any period within the past five years, provide an explanation in the spaces provided on the form. If you were self-employed, indicate that as well.

Handling employment history on immigration applications can indeed be a bit of a maze. While my experience primarily lies in the UK, I can appreciate the complexities involved.

Navigating the N-400 application process can be tricky, especially when it comes to employment history. I remember feeling uncertain about how to handle similar situations. It's great that you're seeking advice proactively. As for working for a foreign company while residing in the US, I'd suggest consulting an immigration attorney to ensure everything is in order. I once faced a similar dilemma when considering opportunities linked to Uttar Pradesh Govt Jobs 2024. Seeking expert guidance eased my worries and helped me navigate the process smoothly.

Hi guys, I’m early filling for naturalization. I entered to States on green card dv lottery, stayed in the country for 10 days and left. Came back after 3 months. My question is what address should I mention in this 3 months of my absence? Mailing address of my friend where green card was delivered or address in another country? When I applied for global entry, for same question I put address in another country in 3 months. The problem is I’ve never mention address of my friend anywhere except application for the visa. It was only mailing address. Thank you

The process of dealing with a person's work history on an immigration application may be complicated. I understand the complexity, even if my background is mostly in the UK.
