  • N400 filing question - evidence of child support for child who lives with me?

Hi! I'm filling N400 online and I have a very straightforward situation. I'm married and we have newborn who lives with me. Of course wife and I support baby financially. However the N400 asks me to provide evidence of child support such cancelled checks or money order receipts, court documents showing child support, evidence of wage garnishment, or notarized letters from the parent or guardian who cares for my child. Why does the online application ask for those if I'm married and my child resides with me? My wife and I fully support the child financially, I have not been ordered by a court to support my son because me and my wife are married and live together. What should I provide as evidence? Should I just file without evidence or?

I recently completed my n400 and got naturalized, but I don't remember seeing such question.

Those questions appear to be related to having a child but not actually living with the child, i.e. separation or divorce. All the items requested would show proof that you're meeting any support obligations as ordered by the court. Was there a previous question along the lines of claiming to have a child but being separated/divorced? It seems like "being married with child" should not have presented you with this set of questions.
