When to apply N600

Hello,
Me and m spouse planning to apply N400 in next couple of weeks. I just found out that for kids, we need to file N600. My question is can we file N600 when we file N400 ? or do we have to wait to get N400 approved. Thanks.

If either of you take the oath before the kids turn 18, they automatically become US citizens, without needing to file anything. After your oath, you can apply for US passports for them directly at any time (perhaps at the same time as applying for your US passport). After your oath, you can also file N-600 to apply for a Certificate of Citizenship for them, to document the US citizenship that they already have, but it is not required. They do not need to have a Certificate of Citizenship before getting a US passport.

Thanks. So basically I don't need to do anything for kids. Just apply for the passport when we get our citizenship. Kids are 12 and 16.

You can file N600 after submitting N400, no need to wait.

No you can't. The kid must already be a US citizen before filing N-600, and the kids do not become US citizens until one of the parents takes the oath.
