A Lawful Permanent Resident can apply for United States citizenship, or naturalization, after five years of residency. This period is shortened to three years if married to a U.S. citizen
My spouse has been a permanent resident since 2001. She was a permanent resident at the time we got married in 2002.
She filed my petition on her green card and I came to US & received permanent residency exactly 3 years ago in 2008.
My spouse is now becoming a US Citizen, so i will be a spouse of US Citizen.
In reference to the statement in red, am i eligible for a 3 year period as my spouse is now citizen ? or she has to be citizen at the time of the marrige?
Please help.
Thank You
